What Makes Hoop Earrings?Hoop earrings could be defined as large circles (oblong or perfectly round) that enter your ear and then encompass the ear lobe and re-enter the ear from the opposite side. However, in order to be a hoop earring there should be considerable distance between the lower portion of the earrings and your ear lobe. If the earring remains close to the lower ear lobe during it's journey, then it would be considered a huggie earring. They can be many inches in diameter. Huggies are rarely more than 1/2 in diameter.
